GuaSha is an ancient Chinese medical technique used to stimulate blood and qi flow which in turn reduces inflammation, pain, and discomfort. Using a tool, your therapist will rub over lubricated skin to break up stagnation/congestion in the muscles and fascia. This will produce petechiae (raised redness) on the skin yet also provide immediate relief of muscle tension and stiffness.
While Gua Sha is most commonly used to treat pain, it can also be utilized by Chinese medical clinicians to address conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu, fever, heatstroke, fibromyalgia, strains, sprains, and muscle spasms. Read more about how to use Gua Sha safely at home.
