GuaSha Therapy

GuaSha

GuaSha is an ancient Chinese medical technique used to stimulate blood and qi flow which in turn reduces inflammation, pain and discomfort.  Using a tool your therapist will rub over lubricated skin to break up stagnation/congestion in the muscles and fascia. This will produce petichia (raised redness) on the skin yet also provide immediate relief of muscle tension and stiffness.

While gua sha is most commonly used to treat pain, it can also be utilized by Chinese medical clinicians to address conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu, fever, heatstroke, fibromyalgia, strains, sprains, and muscle spasms.

A 1/2 hr of GuaSha therapy can be added to your acupuncture treatment.
